5k Info

Join us on October 5th, when the entire Fraternity Sorority Life Greek community will be working together to fully support our American Liver Foundation.   ATO is motivated to continue their commitment to charitable/philanthropic campus events by organizing and hosting this event, which we hope will be supported by each and every Fraternity and Sorority.   We are hoping for full participation, donating $15 each for registration.  Groups of 25 will go out in waves every 10 minutes.   And YES, all UNH/Durham community members are welcome to run/donate.  Stay tuned for updates...  any/all support will be most welcome!

WHY the American Liver Foundation?

  • On average, every day in the US over 500 children under 5 years of age are waiting for a liver transplant due to liver cancer.

  • Over 100 million in the US are affected by some form of liver disease

  • 1 billion with non-alcoholic fatty tissue liver disease suffer globally - many could be reduced with a healthier lifestyle - and so our 5K is the perfect antidote to reducing this number.

Jim Miller's Backstory/Motivation......

Thank you for joining and supporting our Epic Run... not only did you participate in a FIRST of its kind venture at UNH, you have now supported Jim Miller in his quest to reach marathon #300 by April 2025 in Boston and raise $100,000...  Our Epic Run will be the largest Fund Raising event for Jim to date and will push him well over the halfway mark to his goal.  Jim lost his dad to non-alcoholic fatty tissue liver disease and has recently helped raise funds for a 3-year-old girl who went through a liver transplant surgery.  Jim is very passionate about how exercise of all types can go a long way to preserving good health and eliminate so many forms of liver disease.....  Thank you all!
